| About Us...
Stonewall Horse Farm is perpetuated for the
enjoyment and love of this magnificent animal while striving to
introduce to as many people as possible the versatile and gentle natured
Tennessee Walking Horse. We are located on 102 rolling acres 30 miles
Northwest of Nashville, Tennessee and 20 miles southeast of Clarksville,
Tennessee.
We currently have three stallions standing at stud.
The most popular, Magic Shade's O' Gold, a 15.1h,Tennessee Walking Horse
registered, double creme, cremello stallion who has Carbon Copy in his
lineage. He has been UC Davis tested for the Agouti gene. We can almost
guarantee the color of the offspring that he will throw depending upon
the mare. He is capable of producing buckskins, palominos, perlinos,
smokey blacks, silver buckskins, and cremellos. We also have a 15h
direct Coin's Hard Cash stallion (black) Cash Item, and finally a 15.1h
direct Pride's Favorite/Pride's Choice Cut stallion (sorrel) Sun's
Choice Pride, Everyone of our stallions can be handled by just their
halters. No lead rope required! They are all gentle and receive just as
much attention and care as the riding horses. They are constantly
rotated in a large arena daily to get their much needed ''play time''
and exercise. All stud fees are $250.00 and include a live foal
guarantee accompanies all of our services without a time limit.
We breed and raise all of our horses. We are
personally there with our mares when they foal. The foals have a halter
on the second day they enter this world and are lead broke before they
are weaned. All 60 horses on this farm are inspected and touched by our
hands daily. Our foals are imprinted which enables them to trust humans
and become very affectionate and friendly. Our weanlings are then turned
out into a field to ''just be horses'' until they reach 18 months of
age, this is when we begin the training phase. This facility was
established to further the development of the breed through natural
non-invasive methods. We believe in the slow patient method of
developing our horses from imprinting at foaling to the Lyons method of
starting our young horses Each horse is started slowly and easily. We
spend weeks on ground manners (standing in crossties, tacking, picking
up their feet, bathing, clipping, etc) before learning to lunge and
ride. Each horse is taught to lunge on a lunge line to learn verbal
commands. Each horse, before a rider is ever put on their backs, will
''Whoa'', ''Easy Walk'', ''Running Walk'', and ''Canter'' by using
verbal commands on a lunge line or off in our round pin. We always first
have each horses' mouth inspected and wolf teeth pulled and bit seats
put in each horse to make the horse's mouth as comfortable as possible
when introduced to the bit. They are then ridden in a round pin/arena
until it is decided they are ready to hit the trails. Depending on the
horse, they are usually on the trails within a week of riding in the
arena. Our horses rarely exhibit any resistance to riding or training as
they enjoy the attention given to them by humans. They are trusting and
willing and therefore easy to start. Rarely does a horse ever even buck,
baulk, or rear while training/breaking. We offer weanlings and yearlings
of color and impeccable bloodlines for sale at all times. We have taken
years to hand pick our mares to ensure natural four-beat gaited, even
tempered, and good looking offspring to prepare for the trails for our
customers. The dams and the sires are on sight for you to see where your
offspring came from. We offer payment plans to purchase our horses for
approved customers. Simply choose a horse, and give us a call and we
will work out a customized payment plan to fit your financial needs. All
we require is a non-refundable down payment on the horse of your choice
and we will take that horse off the market and allow you to make
payments on the horse until it is completely paid for. We will even keep
your horse for up to two weeks board free. After this time we require a
$10 a day boarding charge which will allow us to keep your horse in a
stall (to better prevent accidental injuries until the customer is able
to make pick up arrangements), two scoops of the highest quality feed
daily, alfalfa hay or orchard grass/timothy hay (depending on the horse
you are purchasing), and the horse will continue to remain in the riding
rotation to maintain progress and stamina. When breeding your mare, we
treat her as though she was our own. Mare care is $10 a day, with our
without a colt by her side.
