Pride's Shakin Gold
-
"Dusty", aka Pride's Shakin' Gold, is a registered,
palomino, gelding foaled on 4/10/2008. He is by our cremello, Magic
Shade's O' Gold and out of our mare Gold's A Shakin (found in the Sold
section of the Mares link). Both sire and dam can be found on our
website if you are interested in looking at their breeding and photos.
Dusty was foaled, raised, and trained by us. He is the first horse in
the herd to walk right up to the gate when called. He has been on long
trail rides alone, in pairs, and in groups. He has been taken off the
farm for several trail rides at unfamiliar places and conquers that task
with ease. Dusty is a curious fellow who craves attention from people.
Dusty has been started under saddle since 1/1/2010. His ground manners,
as most of our horses, are as good as most 10 year old horses you will
see around. He already clips, bathes, loads, lets you pick up his feet,
tacks, mounts/dismounts with ease. Dusty's most amazing asset is his
canter! This gelding has the most amazingly smooth, consistent, easy to
get into lope of any Walker out there. We wish as horse trainers, we
could take credit for such an amazing canter but NO, Dusty was born with
this amazing rocking chair canter. He does it with a simple squeeze of
the riders legs and can transition into it without all the teeth
chattering pacing that some horses do. He just glides right into it and
comes back down to his running walk the same way. Dusty is ridden in a
low port Tennessee Walking Horse bit with minimal curb. He is not shod.
However, he stands perfectly still for the barefoot trimmer (our version
of a ferrier) to trim his feet. And he is a cinch to catch in the
fields, he'll let you walk right up to him. In the summer months when
Dusty's coat is short, he is a golden palomino, who will darken with
age. In the winter months, like most palominos, he turns snow white and
sheds back off in the springtime. He will likely reach 15.2hh when fully
